Increasing numbers of people are getting in touch with the approximately 7,600 charitable organisations that Banco Alimentare supports across Italy through its network of 21 local organisations to ask for help with shopping or meals.
Since the start of the year a further 85,000 requests have been received, taking the total number of people assisted to 1.75 million.
UnipolSai Assicurazioni will once again be supporting Banco Alimentare for the 26th National Food Collection Day which will be held on Saturday 26 November 2022.
In around 11,000 supermarkets across Italy , over 140,000 volunteers will be inviting consumers to purchase long-life food products: canned vegetables, canned tuna and meat, tomato pulp or purée, oil and baby food like purées or powdered milk.
Volunteers will wear orange bibs, a recognisable new colour on the Banco Alimentare logo which will also appear on the bags provided to customers for their shopping. For those who can’t get down to a participating supermarket, it will also be possible to donate shopping online on Amazon.com, Carrefour.it, Esselunga.it and EasyCoop.com.
The Food Collection is the initiative through which Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus participates in World Day of the Poor 2022 announced by Pope Francis.
