22TH National Food Collection Day 2018

UnipolSai Assicurazioni will be Main Sponsor of the 22nd National Food Collection Day, taking place right across Italy on Saturday 24 November.

Since 1997 this mass participation charitable event, the biggest in Italy, has collected long-life food products donated by shoppers in around 13,000 supermarkets across the country. Promoted by the Banco Alimentare Foundation, this initiative is only possible thanks to the work of 145,000 volunteers.

The food products collected will be distributed to over 8,000 charitable organisations (canteens for the poor, communities for minors, food banks, shelters etc.) which help over 1.5 million people in need in Italy, including almost 140,000 children. In fact, the aim of the collection is to supplement the work Banco Alimentare carries out every day to combat food waste and redistribute it to those who need it most.
