New project of the Legambiente and Unipol Group campaign in Sesto Fiorentino (FI).

The redevelopment, protection and improvement of the enjoyment of the Protected Natural Area “Podere La Querciola” in Sesto Fiorentino (FI) are the heart of a new project called Custodi della Natura (Guardians of Nature), endorsed by Legambiente and the Unipol Group as part of the Bellezza Italia (Italian Beauty) campaign.

In this Protected Natural Area in Tuscany, work was carried out to rearrange the entrance square, renovate and implement walkways and paths, now also accessible to disabled people, and restore one of the birdwatching lookout posts. Work was carried out not only to make the enjoyment of this protected area safe for all visitors, but also to preserve its important biodiversity by setting up informative educational signage and restoring the ponds for amphibians.

The project Bellezza Italia - Custodi della Natura was presented in Sesto Fiorentino (FI), at Podere La Querciola, on 17 May. Speakers included Giorgio Zampetti, General Director of Legambiente, Marisa Parmigiani, Head of Unipol Group Sustainability, Fausto Ferruzza, President of Legambiente Toscana, and Beatrice Corsi, Councillor for the Environment of the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino.

«Safeguarding and restoring biodiversity conditions has become a categorical imperative not only for Governments, as demonstrated by the Montreal agreement, but also for businesses – said Marisa Parmigiani, Head of Unipol Group Sustainability. – The Unipol Group is working on a biodiversity strategy that may have an impact on production processes and at the same time, together with Legambiente and other partners, it supports concrete restoration and amelioration projects within local communities that may stand as a testimony to the usefulness of such work and raise awareness among citizens».
