Luna Rossa and Unipol
Luna Rossa, together with Unipol, is ready for the first preliminary races of the America’s Cup
The competitive path to the 37th America's Cup in sailing, the oldest sporting trophy in the world to be contended in Barcelona in 2024, will officially begin with a series of exciting preliminary regattas between multiple teams.
From Friday 15th to Sunday 17th September, Luna Rossa - featuring the Unipol brand on its boat and uniforms as official sponsor - will set sail in the waters of Vilanova i la Geltrù, Spain, in this first preliminary event, competing against 4 other boats that launched the challenge along with the defending Team New Zealand.
The programme includes eight fleet regattas which will award points based on order of arrival, at the end of which the top two in the ranking will compete in a classic final ‘match race’.
The regattas will be broadcast live on Mediaset Channel 20 and on Sky Sport.
AC40s will take to the water, smaller hulls than the AC75s to be launched next year in anticipation of the America’s Cup regattas. Luna Rossa has already demonstrated its potential and ability to ‘fly’ above the water in training thanks to the champions on board selected by Max Sirena, with the Bruni-Spithill duo at the helm ready to challenge the strongest sailors in the world.
All the allure of Luna Rossa’s flying boats will also be featured in an advertising campaign announcing the sponsorship, published in the main Italian sports newspapers in view of these preliminary regattas.
Fair winds to the Luna Rossa team!
