National Food Collection Day returns on Saturday, 16 November
National Food Collection Day returns on Saturday, 16 November. During the initiative promoted by Fondazione Banco Alimentare, it will be possible to purchase non-perishable food to donate to people in need, thanks to the help of local organisations partnering with the 21 regional Banco Alimentare locations.
More than 150,000 Banco Alimentare volunteers wearing orange vests will invite shoppers to purchase long-life products such as oil, canned vegetables or legumes, tomato pulp and purees, canned tuna or meat and baby food at over 11,600 supermarkets across Italy,
All of the food donated will then be distributed by over 7,600 local organisations partnering with Banco Alimentare (soup kitchens, family homes, communities for minors, outreach centres, street units, etc.) which support more than 1,790,000 people.
Food may also be donated online from some dedicated platforms: to find out how to purchase products and which food retailers have joined the initiative, please visit colletta.bancoalimentare.it.
