The 20th edition of the World Aquatics Championships will be held in Fukuoka, Japan, from 14 to 30 July 2023.

The programme includes all aquatic disciplines: swimming, open water swimming, artistic swimming, water polo and diving.

The divers will be the first athletes to take to the water on 14 July with plenty of spectacular high dives to enjoy, and they will be joined by the male and female artistic swimmers who will enthral the public with their eye-catching routines. The first week also includes open water swimming. Finally, there will also be room for water polo with both the Italian men’s and women’s teams competing in Fukuoka. 

The swimming competitions will take place in the second week, from Sunday 23 July to Sunday 30 July.

The Italian swimming team is made up of 32 athletes (19 men and 13 women) while the open water swimming squad consists of six athletes (2 men and 4 women). 

Those present include Simona Quadarella, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Nicolò Martinenghi, Benedetta Pilato, Federico Burdisso and Thomas Ceccon.
