World Aquatics Championships 2022

The 19th Edition of the World Aquatics Championships will be held in Budapest from 18 June to 3 July 2022. The swimming events are scheduled for the first week, from Saturday 18 June to Saturday 25 June, while the open water events will be held from 26 to 30 June.

The full program involves the participation of 5 FINA disciplines: swimming, open water, artistic swimming, water polo and diving. Once again, Budapest is the place to be in world swimming, after hosting the World Championships in 2017 and the World Junior Championships in 2019, as well as the European Championship last year.

The FINA World Championships Budapest 2022 joins the upcoming editions to be held in Fukuoka, Japan (July 2023) and in Doha, Qatar (January 2024): this means that 3 World Championships will take place in just 20 months, making Budapest 2022 an extraordinary edition of the World Aquatics Championships.

At the end of the Spring Swimming Championships held in Riccione, Italy’s Head Coach Cesare Butini released the list of squad members who will participate in the 2022 World Championships.

9 female and 20 male swimmers from the Italian team will be present, including Simona Quadarella, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Nicolò Martinenghi, Benedetta Pilato, Federico Burdisso and Thomas Ceccon.
